It would be nice to have discontinued lenses on the map

Like a roadmap should have cancelled roads on it. To add to the general confusion.

The 16-28 was launched 5 years ago, and it has some weaknesses. Even if Pentax would collaborate with Tokina again (which is not confirmed), I would not look at such old lenses as possible candidates.

The two new D FA lenses should give us a hint about the level of quality they're targeting.

So at FF launch there will be:-
3 FA limiteds
50 & 100macro
FA 35/2 and 50/1.4
D-FA 28-120?/4
D-FA* 15-30/2.8
D-FA* 24-70/2.8
D-FA* 70-200/2.8
D-FA 150-450

plus DA lenses that can work on FF
DA* 55/1.4
DA* 200/2.8
DA* 300/4
da35/2.2 & da50/1.8
maybe 40/2.8, 70/2.2 & 60-250/4

Thats justs leaves a fast 24 (good for aps-c bokeh and FF astro.
Not a bad line up!
What about the D-FA 50mm and 100mm macros? often overlooked, but such great glass.

I've said it in numerous threads, the 100mm Macro and the FA Limiteds will be my only glass complimenting the new body at launch, should handle nearly all of my shooting situations.

Anyways, regarding Tokina... I would not in the least be disappointed if Pentax were sharing lens designs with them. My 16-35 f4 is one of my favorite F mount lenses and was an amazing value. the f2.8 version they do is pretty incredible as well (was just too heavy and no filter abilities so I never bought it). If any new lens from Pentax performs as good as my UWA zoom does I'll be more than happy.

Tokina 17-35 is FX (FF) lens.

They can't re-release what they never had.

What's weird is that Ricoh USA website still has a product page for 16-45, even though it is definitely discontinued.

It is a good sign that they have a DA lens on the road map. It shows they are still going to invest in APS-C glass.
