41 would be more correct if they reuse the K-3 AF sensor... (27 x 1.5 crop)

But they won't. Spanking new sensor.

Excellent news!

As you can see, the K-3 AF sensor chip was designed to support a specific AF point array and AF coverage profile. Coverage on the right and left edge of the frame isn't extensive, however, and there are probably not enough horizontal and vertical sensor strips to offer support for the kind of AF system Pentax might want on a high-end FF.

Simply to illustrate what the AF on a Pentax FF might look like, the Canon 5D3 AF sensor (which looks a lot like the 1Dx and 7D2 AF sensor) supports lots more than 27 AF points and has a very different pattern and coverage profile compared to the K-3 AF chip.

As the 645Z diagram illustrates, by simply directly inserting the K-3 AF to a larger format you may end up with a very small AF coverage. With all this talk of a new AF system, AF patents etc, it sounds like Pentax dont want that.

You have some valid points here! I know what sensor that will be used, but i dont have any info on AF-system yet. But it would surprise me a lot of they didn't expand it

Do you mean that you know what kind of sensor that Pentax will use? 24MP, 36MP og 50MP?

What is really interesting for me is if they're going to implement a proper highspeed tethering solution. The current ones with wifi cards and/or 3rd party solutions are just not reliable and functional at all.

I say a 50 model & 24 model come out,so D750 & the new Canon whatever have some good competition ,& both with pixel shift ,but then a 50MP would hurt 645Z sales maybe??

50mp is extremely unlikely. Never say never, but the chances Pentax introduce a 50mp sensor in this camera is 1/1,000,000,000 chance in my opinion. Just doesn't make any sense.

I agree. This and improved flash system.

And I'm more interested in DR and high ISO handling in the FF body over raw pixel count. You can rest knowing the pixel count will be at least as high as the K-3 but less than the 645Z. Simply because we know Ricoh want to sell the entire camera product lineup, not steal one of the main features the 645Z has going for it (resolution).

me too.

improved flash system (HSS? x-speed over 250? please please please please please please!)
radio control built into the camera for a new line of flash heads for use with OCF?

then give me a 24mp sensor, I'd settle for 36 (would prefer nothing larger) and give me class leading DR (think a range that could do Nikon Df/645z/A7s) which means a 24mp sensor would probably be the best sensor for the job

I wonder if the size of that rear screen will start a rear screen size war. I just want a screen I can read in bright sunlight.

Also, I wish all manufacturers on the pro-sumer+ gear level would go to an OLED or at least an LED Control Panel.
