Who is? SAR? As a daily reader of SAR, I think that is incorrect.

Maybe Pentax will have something brand new this time? Something we haven't seen in any camera yet? May our dreams come through!

Yes, SAR. Many of their "rumors" are fakes.

Well this one came from Nozomi Tanaka, who often has some inside information like our good friend Kenspo who is not allowed to overexcite us any more

Reading the Google translated blog page I can't say for sure what exactly came from Mr. Nozomi Tanaka and what was added by someone else
Anyway, my point is that we shouldn't 100% trust such rumors - but please do mention them if you find out more.

Well, everybody knows that including an 'X' in the name of anything, from washing detergents to cars, automatically makes it better

I think it should just be called "The Pentax"

Indeed. And on the bottom plate we would have the version number. Just like that
I saw a flaw in the original suggestion, but the second one took care of that. Would b quite cool, actually.

according to sonyalpharumors the K-FF will have a 36mp sensor which is also in the A7R Pentax will use the Sony FF sensor and High Resolution mode. | sonyalpharumors

this is their source: Google Translate
It could be new sensor, not old from A7R

I think, new FF will be - Z-3 (Z-1, Z-5, Z-10).
In 2006 I was in a meeting with the then Pentax President Fumio Urano in Russia. Clicked before him my Z-1. He said that they have a Z means the best.

Agreed. D810 sensor with the expanded DR and lower iso has been my assumption since announcement.

A7R is what SAR make of it. The source says

Image sensor to be used or will become about 36 million pixels of the same class as the Nikon D810.
That would be the IMX094

"Same class" is not "the same"; and this is a Google translated Japanese text...
The IMX094 would be 3 1/2 years old by then. I'm not saying they will not use it, but we should wait and see.

yeah there isn't another. CMOS hasn't progressed very much since 2010. Nikon managed to improve it a little over the original D810. Unless Sony spews out something new it's gone be either IMX094 or IMX128 (24mp) Well at least it is going to keep the costs down.

First iteration on that sensor wouldn't be bad at all! I hear great things about the Sony full frame sensor

There is not much difference between the Nikon and the Sony. All good and Nikon has tweaked a little better.

Nikon D800 versus Sony A7R versus Nikon D810 - Side by side camera comparison - DxOMark

these are the top 3 camera's on DXO all this sensor. There just isn't a better one. Maybe Pentax can wring out a 98, but I doubt it.

And dxo-mark renewed their website. It still sucks. But if the link doesn't work do a ctrl-F5
