I will sometimes use DA lenses that the camera will crop. So in effect it would no longer be a 24MP sensor, more like about 12MP. This would make a 24MP sensor inadequate.
having had a Nikon D800 and now a D810, I definitely would not like to drop down to 24 Mpx in a full-frame. OK, I don't need 36 Mpx all the time, but I do sometimes, and it's great to have it (I never use the crop mode - I have the K-3 for that, but I often crop hard into the photo). If the Pentax FF is 36 Mpx, I'll be running just the one system. If it has 24, I don't think I'll be getting the full-frame, sadly.

It's not about dealing with pressure. It's about dealing with responsibility.

The New FF DSLR has a CHUNKY prism, which holds promise the VF will be decent. The ME super had a fantastic VF, but the coverage was a bit underwhelming, I would be content with 0.78X with 100% - or Ideally 0.92X with 98%. My experience with film and DSLRs 100% @ 0.70X is the absolute smallest OVF I can tolerate. I wouldn't accept anything below 0.70X in any case.
Some comparisons are already out, and it seems — even from quick view — that the FF will have at least the same size VF as in ME Super. What is under the canopy is a mystery, but the chunk of a prism is bigger than on ME Super.! I expect nothing less than 100% x ~0.9X
This is Pentax's first digital FF shot, they will do it right, and turn many heads, I have no doubts about it.
They shall justify their name (PENTAprism).

I do hope the mount ring design stays the same so that i can use my PK+MM and Olympus OM lenses on it when that FF day comes. *Pray*

Thanks for bringing suicide into the discussion.

Me too. It'll be nice to have mirror lockup button just like old K2. I bet to top button on the left side.
Interesting idea. I do wonder what that button will be. WiFi? DPOF?

I know it is silly, and perhaps would compromise weather sealing, but if they made a version with that front part of the grip covered with thin, real wood veneer, I would be all for it!

I hope that the increased size of the VF hump indicates some use of electronic overlay on the big-and-bright OVF. That would be awesome.

When I saw the original photos. it was "obvious" that there was no pop-up flash. However, seeing that it is a mock-up, perhaps they have not detailed the flash and it indeed does have a pop-up flash. Are there any official spec of this camera that states that there is no on board flash or are we all speculating?!

There is almost no chance of Pentax choosing the 24 MP sensor. 36 MP is likely the sweet spot.

Aren't there other considerations when choosing the sensor apart from pixel count? This fixation on a single number reminds me of MHz race.

I wonder how much extra work it would need from Ricoh to release both? Everything else the same, just two different sensors.

I suspect that by the time this camera is released that 36 MP will be the megapixel middle ground. I hope that they dont aim for a higher pixel count, besides 36 MP fits in the line up nicely.

K-S2 20 MP
K-3 24 MP
K-FF 36 MP
645Z 50 MP

Well for me that 24 mp even cropped would be enough(for me) and it could mean also bette ISO toleranse, but I suppose that they will go with 36 mp. With some sensorsift super resolution it would knoc someones socks off.
