At least Pentax followed the practice of one camera one name.
In the US, Canon Rebel users were seeing XT, XTi, XSi, T1i, T2i, T3i,... while in Europe they were seeing 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 600D, ...
In the auto industry, engineering may give a development name to each car, but apparently marketing decides what names we will actually see.
I really do hope that senior Ricoh-Pentax management sees the opportunity here.
