Jared Polin likes the Canon 5Dsr results so far, so maybe 36MP is too low pixel count...
But I doubt Pentax will go for close to 50 MP sensor, though the 645Z is totally different animal.
Maybe it will have a 42MP sensor...

645Z sensor.
They must have plenty of them spare from Sony. And they aren't that much larger than a normal FF sensor ... pic related.

To use it, the 645Z sensor would just default to a kind of FF 'crop' mode on K-mount. You could probably get a decent 36MP out of a 645Z sensor in such a mode.

In that case it won't be a Sony sensor or FF won't be in november as it is promised.
If I remember well there is a clause in Pentax (now Ricoh) contract with Sony that Pentax can't use sensors which are less than 6 months on the market.
So if it is a new sensor which is not already announced it can't be used before december.
Or maybe Ricoh changed that contract, but public was not properly informed about that.

I'm wondering how much the real Pentax FF camera will resemble the plastic showmodel. I hope the real one will be quite a lot smaller and much more pleasing to look at.

The showmodel is just a litte bit larger than the K3. This picture shows the K-Mount in real size: Pentax 35mm full-frame image sensor - Fovi AS - Pentax Pro Shop, click on the picture to enlarge it.

Well, lets hope the real one will be prettier then the showmodel then. I have no idea how they could make it that ugly after producing the beautiful K-5/3 body. Oh well, tastes vary I guess...
