Patent for 7.5-120 f/1.6-1.9 lens (1/1.7" sensor)

That is basically a 35-550mm equivalent lens. New compact, or a super tele lens for Q system? Probably a new camera, I'd think - that front element might dwarf the Q body!

Ricoh 7.5-120mm F1.6-1.9 DOE(1/1.7")?????????????So-net???

Maybe simply patent and nothing else. Who will buy camera with 35 mm at wide-angle now?

Pair it up with a 08, what else would one need?

Eventually, we might get the "lightning gem" of such good performing sensor + compactness !

Could be a lens for an upcoming GR-series camera also.

Maybe it's full frame?

It could be...it'd be huge, and heavy, and expensive, but it could be...maybe it's fisheye at the wide end and rectilinear at the long end...

Cheers,
Cameron

Yes, they say that, since the distance between the rear element and the sensor plane is higher than 10mm, this lens is more probably a Q mount lens than the integrated superzoom lens of a compact camera.

Would be great for Q, since it makes it a competition for the bridgecamera's.

Longer! Nikon's got a 70-300CX for the 1 system that's 800mm EQ. With blazing fast AF. Q needs to exceed that!

The 08 is roughly 39mm equiv, so need either the kit zoom or the 08 wide angle zoom.

I'm still having trouble grasping "f/1.6-1.9".

They should make this if they're serious about the Q. It's a lens that could only be made for the Q, so it would be a system differentiator. They would need a better body to put it on, though.

A new Q body is desperately needed, IMO. $500 Q-S1 with a low-res fixed LCD? Meh.

Canon's got a 600mm (eq) camera in the works with a 1" sensor.

With a 63mm front lens : nothing exceptionnal, but better with a full-metal body like the first Q.

Or a more advanced body IMO, even if bigger.
