New Pentax Flash?

Will Pentax release new Flash model pretty soon?
Anybody hear rumors/new about this?

I've been debating whether I should get the 540 or wait until Photokina.

I hope they will! Not that I would buy any(i'm using old cheap sb-28 flashes) but hey, the 540 is old and consumer want to buy new stuff. Everything new from pentax mean more potential attention from consumers and it's what they need at this point; attention.

I wish someone could create a flash with built in high end lightmeter.

how about a 600 that is weather sealed to matched the weather sealed bodies!
also the addition of a 5th battery would be nice, the 540 already is good on power, just needs faster recycle times
I know I would buy ONE (I have 3 540's now) if it came out with the above listed (or atleast sealing and faster recycle.
Would also love to see a wireless commander module (better/stronger than the built-in flash

Weather Sealed! That sounds great.
I think that's a new feature that can be added and consumer will love eventhough I don't know how the hot shoe is gonna look like.
Also a second lamp on the front for fill in like Metz 58 and USB port for future update.
Most important is to fix the hot shoe lock pin and battery door :ugh:

Indeed, we need a new flash, preferably with an ultrasonic motor powered zoom head .

Sorry couldn't resist.

Weather-sealed would be nice for a AF540FGZ replacement. For the AF360FGZ, I just want it to have a swivel head.

And it'd be nice if they added wireless P-TTL slave mode to the AF200FG, too, because I'd totally pick up one as a secondary flash.

I think everyone fully agrees

A higher end unit would need a phono plug so can be fired (on manual) from a pc cord or a wireless trigger. Otherwise I find the 540 a decent flash. Now if Pentax really wants to do it right, how about a wireless PTTL flash that would work in high ambient light. Probably require a radio signal instead of the pre flash.

I would LOVE a new version of the AF200FG, but with bounce.

Just like the Nikon SB22s.

That would be the perfect low-cost P-TTL flash.

Or, update the AF220T to P-TTL. Call if the AF220FG!

Pentaxians deserve a reliable, low-cost P-TTL flash with bounce. It's not too much to ask.

Perfect and cheap are unfortunately terms alien to the people developing the flash units at Pentax. The perfect and cheap flash gun for the Pentax is this:

Full PTTL, swivel & tilt, variable manual control, built-in AF beam and built-in slave function at less than US$80

That's identical to the digital concepts flash I have. It's fine, but some times it under exposes by 0.5 or 1 stops. Other time it underexposes by some 2-3 stops (don't know what causes this).
