Guess I forgot all those characteristics. Also don't like the idea of the 17-70 not working on my DS (in AF). This would keep me from stocking it in the store. Lens just alienated approx 80% of the people I sold a Pentax DSLR to.
Thanks

I want to see some tests and full sized samples to see if I should get this or a 16-45 or the sigma.

There has been a test already although small one in Chasseur d'Images. It wasn't without problem (which lens is?) but they thought it was defenitely a very nice step up from the kit lens.

You will find more info on the corresponding thread here: Chasseur d'Images tests 20 Pentax lenses

Considering the production versions are not our yet and Ned had 2 sample proto types I think we will still have to wait for the final one to really know how it does.

Sure, it wasn't even a full test btw, but it should give an idea of what to come, still.

I would suspect, judging by the experiences of some on this forum, that any new lenses are going to be appreciably better on the K20. This might be a good marketing strategy for Pentax until the 3rd party vendors catch up.

This lens is now in stock at my local store here in Vancouver, BC.

I think it's a tad expensive for me at the moment unfortunately... but presumably more info should be forthcoming on it soon...

Perhaps it will cause a glut of Sigma 17-70s on the market that I can acquire at low cost

Looking at the focusing ring, the focus throw looks pretty short, so I would imagine AF focus would be pretty instantaneous. It might be tricky to fine focus manually though.
Dont thay all look the same??
I saw a lot smaller on other Pentax lenses. Never was a problem for manual focusing

Unfortunately, TeKaDe hasn't the lens in stock. They're offered for pre-ordering.
The price is 499 Euro, you may claim 50 Euro discount if you've bought your K20D from this dealer.
