Oh I'am sure they'll release a longer macro one day.

For today yes this is more for mount without decent 100mm macro at a fair price. And if the price goes down to 350-400$ that could convince a bunch of guys to buy that Samyang lense new than a used old macro lense.

Me for sure if I was to buy a 100mm macro, that would be the pentax: great picture quality, very well finished, WR, small, light. And AF, very usefull as there nothing that say macro lenses should be used only for 1:1 shooting. I prefered a longer tele for the same size through and macro is not key for me, so gone the F135 route. The DA35ltd should be enough for my small usage of macro.

By useless I meant : considering current offerings from Pentax, Tamron and Sigma, 100mm would have been the last macro lens I would have launched. 200mm would have been a much better market approach in my opinion...
You guys keeping talking about the Sigma 105mm macro. However, try to buy a new one in K-mount.

Thanks! The samples are quite impressive, very high microcontrast wide open, but even at middle range f-stops more CA than my old Bokina 90mm has.

I have to admit I am seriously looking at this lens. I currently have the old Tamron 90mm f2.5 Adaptall lens. The sensor reflection issue limits it use. I also find having to use the extension tube to get to 1:1 a bit of a pain. I really like having an aperture ring and auto focus is not a big deal in macro situations. My purchase of this lens is not imminent, but it is definitely in the running,

I do think that Samyang is extending it's line and I would not be surprised to see the introduce even longer focal length lenses in the next few years.

I'd love to see what they could do with a super tele. 300mm or so with the current level of optics and at a (comparatively speaking) budget price? Yes, please

What I'd really love to see is an MP-E equivalent in Pentax mount. As much as I love hacking together solutions for greater than lifesize shooting, the results that people get with that lens are really spectacular. I don't know why no one is even attempting to produce a similar lens for other systems...

+1 for a 300mm f/2.8 or something like this ! I know they have released a mirror version of 300mm but a lens version would be a great production !
I guess they wait for AF before going into Telephoto lenses... Moreover 300mm is not the regular range of Cinematographers and as they produce a lot of cine versions it may be part of their current priorities...

It has been in stock for awhile, but I just blew my lens budget to smithereens on the Pentax 150 - 450. I would like a set of these lenses though. They certainly do deliver for the money.

Weird move. 100mm is ultra mainstream for macro users who are already equipped in vanilla or third party. 200mm macro would have been MUCH smarter... lack of AF is not a problem for macro users and providing a 200 cheaper than 180 sigma and available in alternate mounts would have been a great surprise

Not that weird. Like the 50/1.4 (was there a shortage of fast fifties?), I think the principal goal was to fill a traditional focal length in their 35mmFF cine lineup, with a lens design that could also be used by "regular" DSLRs and MILCs. With the release of the 20mm, I wouldn't be surprised to see a faster non-macro 100mm or a 28mm or a 200mm, although they seem to be pivoting towards higher-end lenses in niches that they haven't previously explored.
