Great as this is for Ricoh, when I look at the list of all winners, I cannot suppress the thought that TIPA picked the most noteworthy products for each participating company and then "invented" categories to give awards to all these products, eliminating any competition (or having to make a choice) by creating as many categories as needed... Same as always with these awards.

It's great news for Pentax/Ricoh, but I agree there has always been something a bit shifty about the TIPA results. I cant put my finger on it, I just can't seem to be able to trust their opinion.

Given a choice of arbitrary categories for deserving products or honors to an undeserving product because a category
must have a winner, I'll take the arbitrary awards every time.

For example, they gave an award for best entry level DSLR lens, but no award for best entry level
DSLR body. I'd prefer they NOT give an award for best entry level DSLR body if no such product
was deserving, even if that means inventing a category like 'Best Mobile Imaging Device' to honor
a worthy product.

Congratulations to Ricoh and the Pentax brand!

They gave Niikoon the best entry-level D-SLR. Only a true Pentaxian would buy an entry-level D-SLR without a lens

Congrats to Pentax / Ricoh. I've been a Pentax fan since '68. However, even with all the accolades recognizing Pentax camera quality.....why ....oh why....do more people not buy Pentax equipment ?

I have purchased a lot of Pentax equipment over the years and I'm generally more than happy with it...but for the most part I have difficulty finding any Pentax/ Ricoh stock in camera stores.

Pentax/Ricoh has excellent equipment...but how do they get that message out to the consumer and get a bigger piece of the pie, that currently Canon/Nikon absolutely dominate.

To go to Canon/Nikon double digit percentages you would have to go to a high-volume, low margin, big advertising model, Les ... IMHO this makes no sense in a declining market and failure could kill the company. :-(

I assume "Advanced" is their way of saying "Enthusiast" camera? Given that Nikon won best Entry and Professional while Canon won best Expert....
