Same problem here. I have updated three K-3s, and they all have the same bug that turns the LCD screen on (dark blue) when focusing. The question now is whether the bug has an influence on other camera functions. I've taken a number of images with one of the cameras, and it seems to work flawlessly. But I can't be sure it does. Pentax/Ricoh has now got themselves a big problem. Apart from an issue with quality control confidence in the company will probably be weakened. If they want to avoid an escape away from the brand, they must immediately tell Pentax K-3 worldwide users how and when the problem will be solved.

Indeed. Now to see how quickly they respond.

I could be a bug, or the specs on the new K3 MKII embedded in the code...

Indeed: that's one calls a 'blueprint'.

But this is only an issue if the info screen was turned off correct? If it is in normal display mode there is no issue? Or do I misunderstand?

In 'normal display' the screen turns off when focusing - and when the screen is turned off it turns on when focusing. I allways use the camera with a turned off screen, so I don't know if it is to turn off in 'normal mode'. Perhaps somebody else knows?
Best regards

I'm glad to see that Ricoh came out with a firmware upgrade to the K3. Cheers Ricoh!

Bug doesn't sound that big of a deal and will soon be fixed. Tempest in a teapot, IMO.

Indeed. Doesn't affect my usual practices, and I have faith that they will fix it ASAP, because Ricoh rocks. However, I wouldn't turn down a complimentary FF body, perhaps in silver, as a small compensation.

My K3 has been such a good sport till now that I started to believe it's impervious to all issues....perhaps I'll install this latest firmware to test its immunity..

This is a tiny problem that can be fixed with another firmware release. Hoya/Pentax on the other hand.....

Ones that poke you in the eye should have been detected.

Is there a way to go around the bug?
Is the LCD always illuminated when you half press the button?

If the LCD is illuminated with all sorts of settings, the test team should have noticed the bug.

Is there any benefit to update from 1.11 to 1.20 if we don't have the HD DFA*70-200 or HD DFA 150-450 or cheapo 18-50 ?
