I am surely missing something but I do not see the reference where one can obtain the old firmware file in the three pages of comments.
Some people wrote that they were able to reinstall version 1.11 after having installed version 1.20 .

It's not that hard to find:
Product page of Pentax K-3 - RICOH IMAGING UK LTD.

Well, good thing for backups... I still had the old file from way back in September.
Downgrade successful.

Thanks.

That would have been very helpful.
My searches did not bring that up. I only had references to the latest;
Latest K-3 Firmware Update : Software Downloads | RICOH IMAGING

Thanks! I'll keep a note of that one.

Actually, reading his post, he said he couldn't find "reference where one can obtain the old firmware file in the three pages of comments", he didn't say he couldn't find the the firmware.

Just downgraded my K-3 back to V1.11 firmware from the latest buggy V1.20 firmware. Viola!
Cheers.

Thanks for the information! I was just about to install the update. I think I'll wait now.

I did my firmware upgrade this past Saturday and checked, up mine does it as well. I figured it would but had to check. Oh well, not a life shattering event.

Everybody can obtain version 1.11 from russian site (and yes, it's really 1.11 in spite of its name fwdc220b.bin)

To be clear, will I experience the bug if I have the automatic preview and LCD display set to always off?

Yes. The back lighting comes on, nothing on the screen except a dim light.

Famous last words.
No one who has worked in any IT project involving production systems would ever say such a thing

Depends of the problem could be really complex.. or really really really easy.... i think that this one is not one of the complex ones. They had it working fine, so ofcourse looks like something changed in the code for that function.

Will see how long does it take to fix a... light.
