The price... mh. It's good, though we'll have to see how that translates to real world prices. It might just be a more realistic starting price, rather than announcing some fantasy price and then dropping to half that in one month.
I prefer this strategy as it usually drops less in EU.

I'm a bit saddened that it seems it's just the SR sensors that are better, and not the "motors".
AFAIK, Olympus attributed the improved performance of their latest IBIS to new gyro sensors. To quote the well-known Pirelli slogan, "power is nothing without control"

By the way, gyro sensor is quoted twice in the press release:

"while adding an improved 4.5EV stop shake reduction system, new high-speed AF algorithm, GPS, gyro sensor panning detection and automatic horizon correction."

"Thanks to its new, high-precision gyro sensor, this mechanism assures more stable, effective camera-shake compensation than ever before, with an extra-wide compensation range of as much as 4.5 shutter steps — the widest of all K-series digital SLR models."

PENTAX - K-3 II

With the updated PENTAX Real-time Scene Analysis System, supported by the 86K-pixel RGB light-metering sensor, the K-3 II has the most responsive subject tracking of all PENTAX DSLRs.
Does it do that in the K-3 as wel? or is it new, to use the light metering sensor for that?

I would say an extra stop of SR, the pixel shifting high resolution thing, the AF improvements and the higher ISOs make this a very attractive camera, especially at that launch price! Well done Ricoh.
I am pretty sure this is a new sensor by the way, and that the articles saying it's the same sensor are mistaken. It's basically like going from the sensor in the NEX-7 (which the K-3 has) to the one in the A6000 (which the D7200 has - judging by the test numbers).

K-3 Mark II: Effective pixels: 24.35 MP

K-3 Mark I: Effective pixels: 23.35 MP

So something has been done.

Mine was taken from Ricoh. Not B&H

---------- Post added 04-23-15 at 01:19 AM ----------

K-3 Mark II: Effective pixels: 24.35 MP

K-3 Mark I: Effective pixels: 23.35 MP

BUT both have 24.7MP in total..But my point was, that something has changed with the sensor, so it can't be 100% the same.

I saw this on B&H and checked at Pentax K-3 Review - Overview and it was 24.35 for K3.

I really hope it doesn't need 2 minutes to lock position like your chip will (or any running watch for example). The size matters in a non assisted GPS.

If the improved SR is due to the gyro only, it means that the high res mode could be added by firmware update in the K-3, just saying.

Wrong. Once again - the NEX-7 had the old IMX096, the K-3 uses the IMX193, the A6000 got the IMX210 and then some say the D7200 uses the IMX271, which is the latest...

Mistake on the us site. On the dutch site it is 24.35 Product page of Pentax K-3 - RICOH IMAGING EUROPE S.A.S

As it must have to be able to shoot 6016*4000 size files
