Why do they always just skip things that seem so logical if they want to grab market share? I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the engineering conference room.

"Yes, we think wifi, articulating screens and video is just a passing fad". "Ok, let's skip them again and give them something everyone needs, an astro tracker!"

What a let down

Specs don't seem particularly better than K3,
I for one am Not impressed,
what happened to the tilt LCD, better AF I don't think this is much of an improvement
we could get some of the functions on a FW upgrade for the k3

I will wait a few weeks to see the price,
but it does look like I will be ordering the Prestige Gunmetal K3.
I hope the k3 comes down a bit more in price

its so disappointing if This is what Pentax call a newer K3ii

The pixel shift resolution I think is a game changer if it works well.

Built in GPS is huge for me. Almost worth the upgrade alone. Glad they went that way instead of the (for me) useless wifi. Still hoping to see Lightroom tethering, that would really make my day.

Pixel shift sounds interesting but would have to see more to decide if it is useful. Might be great for landscape shooters but would need to know how quickly it works. If it takes too long tree/leaf movement would be an issue. Would also need to produce RAW files not jpeg.

I've been thinking about getting the 16-85 maybe the kit price will be attractive enough that will be the way to go.

Sensor should be the new version 24mpx with better ISO performance. Can't be the same regarding that better fps rate.

Hi: 8.3 fps up to approx. 60 frames (JPG), up to approx. 23 frames (RAW)

same fps rate.

Would be cool if they announce two versions, K-3iiA with astrotracer and K-3iiW with wifi?

The K-5ii had two versions.

Looks like a nice incremental improvement in many areas with the addition of some really ground breaking new features.

Puzzled by the downers? What on earth were you expecting this to be? As far as I can see this is a real step up from the k-3 in features.

No worries. That seems like similar changes which Nikon did for D7xxx series.

Too many glass half-empty people out there. The Pentax K3 II sounds like a very good camera in its own right. That's how it should be judged, particularly since it's arrival follows so closely after the original K3. Yes, I expect Pentax's next flagship APS-C DSLR to have all of the latest features (namely a better sensor, a tilting screen, and built-in WiFi), but I imagine that Ricoh has planned this so that the FF camera can have the biggest "Wow" factor, i.e. be the first to have all of those features in one package. They clearly want the FF to make a big splash, and I expect it will.

Because they skip things that are just commonplace in the market that you think would be a no brainer and then add things they may be useful to only say wildlife photographers off the grid. I mean really, an astro tracker but no wifi? Are they looking to gain market share and sell some cameras? There's no way market research came back to them and green lighted that decision. It's just the quirkiness that is Pentax I guess.

31 hours and 35 minutes to wait.

The leaked specifications are correct, even if somewhat incomplete.
