**PENTAX CANADA** May 1st,2015- Price increase on ….

…. on lenses and K-50 body and Q-S1 body/kits

The "big" increase is the DA 560 lens with it going up
well over 1K but under the 1.5K mark. The other
two (2) lenses with (not as) large(ish) increases are
the: HD FA- 70-200/2.8 and the HD FA 150-450/4.5-5.6
lenses at over $100 but under $150. The other kind of
big(ish) ones are the 16-85 and 12-24 at under $90 and the
Q "08 Ultra Wide" at under $80.

The others range between "just under $20 and under $50"

FWIW, I'm in the photo retail business in Vancouver, BC and received
this in an email from Ricoh-Imaging (aka Pentax) Canada.

**EDIT**: In the subject line, I should have put "RICOH-IMAGING/PENTAX CANADA"

I guarantee this is to slow down cross-border shopping. The yen to $Cdn exchange has tailed off from a slight spike at the beginning of this year and is down around where it has been since the end of 2012. It's all your fault.

This is probably in response to the drop in the Canadian dollar over the past few months. Jack do you have a Canadian retail as yet for the new K3II?

This leads me to agree with the above comments about the Canadian dollar. These 2 new FF lenses aren't even available yet, so it's unlikely that Pentax is raising worldwide prices so soon (unless some analyst back in Japan HQ made an Excel error when calculating the original prices).

To some degree, yes, but unfortunately for us, it's shoppers from down south. Canadians aren't buying from B&H or Adorama as much (see their "free shipping to Canada!" banners), due to the horrid exchange rate, but 'mericans have been picking up plenty of deals from our stores. The USD is really one of the only currencies doing well, thanks to the manipulation of oil prices and trade agreements. Can't blame my ex-countrymen, though... up here we were at (or over) par when the oil sands first hit big!

I know R_G and what really annoys me is that I didn't take advantage of the strong
Canadian dollar for any trips to Europe But, I am glad I picked up my K-50 when I did

Cheers,

Jack

Hi Bob,

Tis indeed and I do, but, sadly, that's at work and I can't (precisely) remember
what our shops retail price will be for the K-3 II But, I shall do my best to
make it enticing enough for a lad to make a trip from the island to Vancouver

Cheers,

Jack

Hi D_J,

You are spot-on regarding the Canadian dollar and, ditto, worldwide pricing

Cheers,

Jack

And, for a while,P_G, some of the big Obamaland stores wouldn't ship to Canada and I imagine things will change

Jack

Indeed, Matt, and I'm hoping that's something else that doesn't change -- 2 year warranty

Cheers,

Jack

HI Derek,

Sadly, it means making a trip to downtown Vancouver, as the shop where I work, doesn't ship

Sorry.

Heh, maybe it´s just the pessimist in me...
On the other hand currency exchange rates have changed quite a lot recently.

L.L. Lozeau in Montreal have the K3II (body only) listed at 1250$,
and the K-50 (body only) is on rebate at 380$ until Apr. 30th

I bought my 645z there for the same reason. Between the exchange rate and low sales tax in Alberta, I saved about 2k vs buying it anywhere in the US.
