You know that scene at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark where the Ark gets boxed up and stored in some giant warehouse that extends as far as the eye can see in every direction?

Ricoh has a warehouse like that and it's full of 16 megapixel sensors.

Looking at the specs, only thing that interest me in the GR II is the build in flash can now trigger my Pentax FGZ flash guns wirelessly, hmmmm

Yes, they share it with Fuji, Quicksand!

The limited edition of the GR II has a "Pentax green" ring around the lens. There's a picture further down the linked page.

m.dc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20150618_707490.html

I get the sense that this update is partly about bringing Pentax features to the GR (flash compatibility, CTE, same mobile app, etc.) and it might make the GR more attractive to Pentaxians as a complement to their DSLRs.

Not interesting at all. Rather weak upgrade for 2 years old camera.

Promotional site. The page on "Story" tries to explain their philosophy on model changes and the gradual evolution of the GR.

For you.

This camera is nearly perfect. I wouldn't have made more change either. Maybe external EVF but it would change the body too much.

Look at sony RX100 mk2-3 with pop-out EVF...
all depends on that app, if not killing battery to much and fast enough it’s good replacement for EVF.
Anyway focus assist is most interesting feature of this GR

Nothing is perfect.

I'd like to see

1. More MP than 16 for cropping and landscape and using in-camera crop-mode. 24 would be sweet spot.
2. External EVF like for GXR would be good too.
3. Touch screen
4. Tilting LCD
5. WR body
6. Sharper lens for 24 MP.

Here is the way for upgrade.

Just ordered a GR I on ebay for $400...after reading numerous blogs and reviews, I am super-excited for it. Even though I bought it "for my wife"

I think the GR II upgrades are sensible, maybe not for the extra cost over a GR I, but after researching I think I "get" this camera and its goal, it isnt something that a 24MP sensor would do any good for.
