Meh, marketing hype. The last true game changer in photography was, what, the digital camera? That was truly revolutionary - it transformed how almost everyone does photography, gave rise to a new industry, and killed many film-centric companies. Everything since then has been smaller steps.

Maybe the announcement is a new Lytro

Maybe I'll be surprised. Low expectations makes it easier for the announcement to exceed my expectations.

They kinda killed that by saying: "Everything changes!" and "Game changer." Anything other then revolutionary is going to be a let down.

It's clear (at least to me) that Alex is not going to be making a new hardware product announcement or anything related to a business combination or reorganization. Just not his role.

I'm going with workflow/software/technique etc. - perhaps an interesting way to use existing tools/features to create better output.

I'm still working on input, though. And speaking of that, time for an ESB!

a real gamechange for me would be a SLR with mirrorless capabilities ... e.g. with a mirror that turns completely transparent upon a button pressed: AF with sensor data and the image projected on the screen (like normal liveview) BUT with an additional overlay or screen on the focus screen ... that would be awesome - choose OVF or EVF with focus peaking according to the situation and your likes.
Everything else is probably just normal evolution in AF algorithms, sensor tech ... nothing more, but nothing less.

This time I don't expect gamechanging stuff ... probably the Ricoh GR II
