Hmm... This MF guy... Could they possibly surprise everyone with a new and significantly improved 645 model already?

In Australia we have to wait until Tuesday. It's not fair!

I don't care about NY. I go to bed at normal time, wake up and I'm a day older and I hang the new calendar.
What has NY got to do with hearing an important announcement "a day later"?

This pre-announcement process is interesting on a couple of levels, firstly for the means by which the announcement is to be made, but secondly for the reaction here.

Now, if the headline presenter had been some sporting type, or what passes for a modern "celebrity" we'd have been entitled to be sceptical about the possible subject at hand, but it isn't. Instead, we have someone who's a professional Pentax user, but because we don't know about him, even though he's been profiled here, the scepticism continues, hopefully somewhat abated now.

We're an odd lot. When Windows users attend a Microsoft conference, they're enthusiastic to hear about developments there, just as MacOS/iOS users are at Apple's events. What do we do? Grizzle and catastrophise, again.

I've registered for a seat. Perhaps it'll be something of a hype about not very much. On the other hand, it could be something of interest. We'll see in a few days. There's nothing wrong with speculation curiosity is one of the great human characteristics but can we keep the cynicism down a bit, please?
Yup. There is no joy in Pentaxia. With fans like these, who needs enemies?

Understand them/us : we've been so many times promissed "revolutions" by Canon, that comming from Ricoh, it sounds a bit like a fine art photocopy work.

Maybe Ricoh comes up with something like a light field camera? Like the Lytro cameras?
A camera where you can set the focus or change the aperture after shooting?

I hope it's not like Canon's "See the Impossible" campaign...

OTOH, I'd say perhaps that variable-transparency mirror patent? That wouldn't be about resolution however...
So maybe a new 645 model...

Slash the prices dramatically on the 645Z body and/or introduce a stripped-down 645 offering to lure current pros using 35mm eq. away from 1DX/D4S?

What about new lenses ? With the FF they will probably release new primes (50mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4...). I noticed also that the 560mm price dropped recently... Maybe new telephotos ?

Interesting, but I still remember the Yvon Bourque fiasco:

“Something new is coming. DSLRs will never be the same…”

So I have my doubts, and you should have doubts too.
