"This is about sharpness, resolution, speed, fidelity, and so much more. It's a gamechanger."

I have no idea what these clowns mean about "fidelity." Sharpness and resolution and speed make sense to me, but pixel shifting doesn't give "speed." Therefore, Pentax/Ricoh (I don't give a damn what a company is called so long as the name isn't offensive and the products work) must be announcing a new sensor...or software. But who can make a sensor for them outside of SONY? I am perplexed. WTH, I just might sign up for this announcement. If it is BS, I won't be suckered again.

Toshiba, Samsung, Aptina all make sensors which are APS-C or larger.

Digital 6x7?
A new film Pentax 6x7 (67iii) would make more sense and have a bigger market, as its cost would be about 1/10th of a digital 6x7 body.

Of course neither will ever happen, so we can only dream!

Phil.

Perhaps they are licensing the sigma sensor. That would be something.

How about the sigma merrill sensor?

Do you really expect Ricoh to announce new technology through a single photographer in California? When has Ricoh ever announced new technology or products through a middle man not even on the Ricoh payroll? Generally don't they give that honor to their upper management ?

Nice speculations - here are mine:

APS-C:
Second versions of DA* 50-135 and 60-250 with HD coating and new fast and reliable DC motor like the new DA150-450 to strengthen the APS-C line.

FF:
Announcement of 2 FF cameras with specifications.

645:
Second version of the 645Z with exchangeable back and 16 bit computing and image data.

If they are bringing out a $50K camera, the answer is NO..they haven't learned a damn thing!

Pixel-shift on the $7000 645Z would give you an image-quality option to rival the new $40K Phase One XF, at least for static/studio shots. Ricoh's already stirred the medium format waters with the impressive 645Z.
That would be incredibly earth-shattering, mostly because the 645Z does not have in-body image stabilization.

Munoz is a sponsored Ricoh/Pentax pro. He gets paid to do this sort of thing.

I'd like to see some sort of focus-adjustment self-calibration in the camera, possibly using the SR system. Just hang a target on the wall, put the camera+lens on a tripod and the camera runs a self-calibration.

Complete tethering solution, again to compete against Phase One - images from your camera on your tablet/phone during a tethered session. Full remote control, etc.

Focus-bracketing using SR system? Focus-stacking in camera?

Excited to hear what it's going to be.
Can a pixel shift system be applied to a camera that relies on the lens for image stabilization?

When was the last time he or any other sponsored photographer announced new technology or products on behalf of Ricoh?
