There is something people have missed here and it involves the AF system.

The latest patents from Ricoh, Tamron, Olympus and Canon | Photo Rumors

Pentax/Ricoh is working on new AF technology which will dramatically improve AF performance and frame coverage. This might well be the announcement for it.

I think the announcement that will change everything will be an announcement regarding detailed specs of the Pentax FF and when, the new full frame will start shipping . Perhaps the new FF will have features that leap frog it ahead of all current FF cameras from Nikon, Canon and Sony.

Who knows and ostensibly by tomorrow sometime, we will all be wiser.

Definitely seems to be an information release more then a hardware release. Announcement of FF specs/features and glass would be great. I don't think theres anything more they need to do with the 645z, its still the king.

A full-frame 645 with 80 MP Foveon sensor, shake reduction, improved auto-focus, faster image processing, more buffer, and faster writing to the card. Oh, and built-in GPS with Astro-Trace too, but no onboard flash.

Or, Ricoh just wanted everyone's email address so they can spam you with ads for the ***NEW RICOH GR***!!!

A new 3D technology is being developed, based on the movement (forward - reverse) sensor, which will later be printed on a specific new 3D printer for photography. In short: preparen to view 3D photos printed on photographic exhibitions.

My guess is that Ricoh will announce that they are purchasing Sony's camera division and will shut down mirrorless options, choosing rather to pursue the legendary alpha mount instead. Adapters will be available for a short period of time to allow for the use of k mount lenses.

I think if they're going that route, put K mounts on those Sony bodies and make adapters for Sony lenses,

Nope, they would not. A-mount would be killed (if it isn't already dead enough), for sure but E mount would be maintained for mirrorless.
It is there and works, however we might feel about it and has its place on the market. Ricoh won't reinvent the wheel (but they might invent something else).
