If this is 6 pm Pacific time, isn't that 10 am on Tuesday Tokyo time? Seems like a perfectly normal time to release a product. I'm not trying to lend any credence to this rumor, but it could be a US event, timed to coincide with or immediately follow up on a Japan announcement.

Anyway, I think we're safe to assume the GR II is coming soon at the very least.

I hope it is about software. That's the area Pentax has been lagging behind. Good software that allows better video functionality, thethering functionality, etc.

So 3 AM CET. Were it any serious announcement it wouldn't be done in the US, but Japan. There are no official Ricoh press announcements, so what is this about? Somebody looking for publicity?
