No not bad, just two people who are about to get disapointed.

I wanna be disappointed too! I want an FF with aperture feeler and a finder that's great for manual focus (a real finder, not an EVF).

Well, at least you are going to get something that you want. So it doesn't matter if you're bad.

Ah well, I'll just have to be happy for my many compañeros here on PF who have spent a lifetime pining for a Pentax FF DSLR... because you're all going to buy it, right?

I agree, the 36mp makes sense. It will be cheaper and Pentax are good at squeezing older sensors to the limit. This will help keep their first FF price down to compete with D610 ect.
36mp makes the most since to me, and if it is priced between the only other cameras to use this 36mp sensor (the $1900 Sony a7r and $3000 d810), Pentax should have a winner. Hopefully it is priced closer to the a7r and not the d810?

If that's for the 645m (mirrorless) then I'm in

The new Sony BSI sensor is fast enough. Whom ever releases the mirrorless MF first is going to do very will.

Better than demand being double than expected?

That would depend on the expectations of the company that produces it.

If Sony produces a MF mirrorless with the 4K abilities of the A7rII, then "yes" demand will be extremely high because it will appeal to both still and video professionals.

Intel and Micron create 3D XPoint: a smaller, faster, more secure memory technology: Digital Photography Review With new memory technology and sensors, they could produce a MF mirrorless that could handle 4K or even 8K.

The larger the format the great the size advantage mirrorless has over DSLR style cameras. The mirrorbox of a MF is huge.

Yeah... "if" - an "if" which IMHO will never happen, as Sony is a volume manufacturer.
There is no silver bullet.

So FF mirrorless is a "high volume" market? I didn't realize that. I thought it was a niche market. You think the $1,600 FE 35mm F/1.4 is a high volume lens?

Compared with medium format yes, it is. IMHO it's highly unlikely Sony (or Canon, Nikon, Samsung) would enter the medium format market.
By the way, I said "volume", not "high volume". That "high" was added by you; and it's you who is promising "extremely high" demand for such a camera (why would you need a medium format video camera anyway?) You like bold claims; I don't. Because there is no silver bullet

There is a silver bullet when creditcard bounces.

I just wanmt that FF to be good enough. Don't have to be great video. Great image quality, Pentax user interface, like my K-3 and many other cams before, but tweaked with new findings. That would be it.

Oh, and great AF too..maybe GPS inbuild, and great grip and great WF.

I do wonder with the plethora of cheap, old, not really all that good manual lenses people have and the cheap, newer AF, but still not all that good lenses people have also been posting that they have in the "how many FF lenses do you have thread while they are saying they are ready for FF, realistically, if you've got mainly crap lenses that you have because they are cheap are you going to spend 2k+ on an FF? Probably not.
