We get a 31 MP sensor.
That would be a nice compromise - more than 24, less than 36, yet the best of both. Plus distinctive.

I still think it will be 32 or less MP.. and still quite possibly this 20 MP sensor. I couldn't possibly see Ricoh pulling a Canon and going berserk with the mp count.
Wich makes sense since it's a FF cut from 645Z.

OK, so now we have two silly sensor rumours for the Pentax FF - the 42MP Sony stacked BSI one, and the alleged 20MP Nikon D5 one. I think neither are likely. Simply too expensive, plus one is too big with the megapickles and the other is too small.
.
Thy are not rumors. Just random speculation in this forum based on the existence of those sensors....

If a October date is real, by now lots of Pentax re-sellers, distributors and trade partners around the world should have been getting more than just vague hints.

Hopefully more pieces of the puzzle will start to trickle out soon.

You mean Klaus Schroiff from photozone.de? I never thought he could be involved in delivering the FF ;-)

4 months, perhaps a late October announcement with November delivery? Fits the other rumors. Unless it was the same distributor who said November in the first place
from Holland Pentax...no MP count yet ...

It will Be 42 so crop will be about 18MP..why make a 150-450 lens for a FF without a decent MP crop factor?

Haha.. meanwhile, back at Ricoh HQ, engineers throw darts at a board to determine just the MP count they will give their first digital FF body.

We have 20, 24, 31, 32, 36, 38, 42, and 50 sections on the board. bullseye is 'delay it for 4 more months' to do more determination of what the MP count should be

A October release date for the Pentax FF would be excellent. Make your move, Pentax.
They definitely aren't going to use the 20Mp sensor unless the FF is designed to be a flagship for sports photographers, which is highly unlikely. My guess remains the 36Mp sensor from last year.

From an EU Pentax distributor, I heard the FF will come in about 4 months.which if true is faster than expected--(whenever that was
now just to find a Sony source to see if the 42MP BSI was sold to Pentax!!
It's the same time which we knew before. The end of October.

36 or maaaaybe 42 MP... no more.. no less.. 20mp is not attractive to many people and is a niche.. at several interviews RICOH reps stand that they care more about the image quality as a photograph than as video.. so Why would they put a 20mp sensor in a brand new FF to a brand that cares more about photographers than videographers??.. doesnt make sense.. on the other hand.. the 36mp sensor is really nice.. will give something around 16MP cropped, and the new 42will give around 18-20.. another thing here is that Pentax ( i dond remember where i read it ) said that their FF will come late this year because it will come with the latest technology available, this could mean that they will use the 42MP sensor isnted of the well known 36MP sensor.

The good thing is.. we are almost there.
