D810 resolution and D4S Speed.
That combination of resolution with speed would be quite a technical accomplishment.
Very nice, of course, but unlikely. The two requirements conflict.

4 or 5 fps @ 36MP FF seems about the best anyone can do at the moment.

We can add a 14-250mm f/1.4 kit lens too while we're at it.

That combination of zoom and f-stop would be quite an achievement! I wonder how many of us would be willing to get a second mortgage to pay for it.

None. Because none of us could lift it.

Yes it would be ridiculous. The front element would likely be massive too.

Nope, that only applies to yesterday-tech companies, such as Nikon, Canon, Sony.

Canon is running behind with 14 FPS * 16Mpx = 224 MPx/s, yes that is true.
Nikon is even farther behind with 11 FPS * 16 MPx = 176 MPx/s (or 5*36=180)

But half a year ago Samsung had no issues with 15 FPS * 28 Mpx = 420 Mpx/s Transfer rate, about +100% faster than Canons flagship camera. That would be 11-12 FPS for 36 Mpx.
And that was half a year ago, a new camera will be faster as engineers build faster Chips every day.

The mirror on the 1DX Shows that the FF mirror mechanism can deliver 14 FPS and is no bottleneck.

The technology is there. Will they take advantage of it?

I mean we must think what market segment is the FF going for? Weddings/events? Landscape? Sports/Wildlife? if weddings then 36-42 MP is overkill(>OMG dear is that how you really look--as he pixels peeps their wedding pics )
maybe 2 models..but not at once..1st one in Nov then in Feb /March to keep people interested..why not a 20MP sports/wildlife & 42MP Landscape models
Market segment? Pentaxians of course...and then all logical arguments are gone through the window!

So, the 6d and d810 are different in looks how exactly? They both look like giant black dslrs to me.
D810 is quite a reasonable size without the battery pack. Pretty much the perfect size IMO.

A BSI sensor has a much faster read out. The 28mp samsung NX1 shoots at 15.5 fps. In fact the sensor was reading out at 240 fps (yes that isnt a typo) but the rest of the pipeline cant keep up. This is why the evf is so good and the camera can do 4k full frame readout video. I could easily see a 36 mp bsi sensor that does 8 to 10 fps. The limitation of course is the rest of the hardware.

Photokina Q&A: Can the Samsung NX1 redefine pro performance with a quantum leap in technology?
