There is a group of people who want FF for "the look" not for resolution and they will want a 6D type of camera. Low cost, poor performance but FF. For "the look" myself, I would prefer to buy 1.4 lenses rather than whole new body, but hey, that's just me.
Not me... don't want to think or touch a "6D type and look" of Pentax FF. It has to be like D810 or better before I will consider an upgrade.

Imagine if the took a 42 MP image and used it to create a combined 14 Mp image like a pixel shifted image. A pixel shift without the need for long exposures. Now there's a concept.
But I need to upgrade my new PC again... 42.4 MP is cool, but it's excessive resolution for amateurs.
Any smaller RAW format would be good.

So, the 6d and d810 are different in looks how exactly? They both look like giant black dslrs to me.

Same here, but f1.4. lenses are tricky in APS-C land, both to obtain and to focus dead on wide open. If it has to be f1.4 then quite likely it's dine at Fuji's. I guess this is all part of a trend, a nudging of users towards FF while APS-C majors on 5.6-f8 with ye consumer zooms. A pity but that's what it looks like.

Me too, but I'm not sure that any new PC will work instantly with 42.4 MP files.

That is what I'm seeing too.. APS-C is the more affordable lineup, FF becomes the serious enthusiast/professional lineup, and the MF stays the flagship uber.

At least when FF is finally launched.... Though how hard is it to relaunch the older DA and DA* lenses with the HD coatings and curved blades?

I mean we must think what market segment is the FF going for? Weddings/events? Landscape? Sports/Wildlife? if weddings then 36-42 MP is overkill(>OMG dear is that how you really look--as he pixels peeps their wedding pics )
maybe 2 models..but not at once..1st one in Nov then in Feb /March to keep people interested..why not a 20MP sports/wildlife & 42MP Landscape models

The look of the pictures.. do I have explain everything? You know the guys who will swear up and down on a stack of bibles they can tell the difference between 6D images and K-3 images, because the 6D images have "the look" even though the K-3 has more resolution. It's that dreamy full frame look that all us APS_c shooter just fail to appreciate.

I'm like you guys.. look schmook, give me more resolution.

I have an SMC 50mm f1.4, Sigma 35mm f1.4, Samyang 24mm f1.4, Samyang 85mm f1.4.

I use them happily on APS-C Pentax and FF Sony.

Where was it written the FF will be pitched at amateurs?

IMHO it will be a full-on professional camera that many dedicated enthusiasts and some wealthy amateurs will also buy.

Two are MF and three lack modern lens motors. And all four are FF focal lengths, not the APS-C equivalent. I was really thinking of lenses like the DA* 55mm f1.4 or the Fuji 23mm f1.4, lenses made with APS-C in mind. That's the point: if you want fast lenses on APS-C, chances are you will have to use FF ones. So, the companies whisper, why not move on to FF anyway, APS-C is for tourists with kit zooms, go on, the bank will love extending you a loan ... you know it makes sense,

The thing that will swing it for me is amp glow. I have 2x D800E and 1X D810 and amp-glow is a nightmare when I push shadows. My K-5 and K01 have no such issues and if the FF is the same I'll be sold.
