I didn't get the allusion either. Popular culture and/or slang isn't universal, even in this age of borderless Internet.

I once made a remark in a post including the 'Where's the beef?' phrase. It also fell totally flat on many of the PF audience. It's hard sometimes to remember that we aren't all coming from a similar history or culture.

I would just say that we do have a lot of non-American people on the forum and people for whom English is not their first language and I can understand how this sort of humor could be taken as an attack on someone. If a joke needs an explanation to work, then it probably doesn't work on this audience.

DN10, I have a question. How many times did you see this ''s...'' word used in this forum. In my years here, I remember seeing it just 1 time, excepting yours. And that time, the user got an admonishment from the moderators. Lucky you, nobody makes an observation to them about you.

But besides your explanation that is just slang, I know that normally, a man is adapting his behavior and language to the medium. Of course, not every man, but those who can hold a pleasant conversation, at least.
