Why is every time Tamron/Tokina announce a new lens there is a automatic assumption that there will be a rebadged version for Pentax? Yes Pentax rebadged a few super-zooms from Tamron but why it is engrained in some people's logic that Pentax is not designing their own lens, instead they would just use other people's design and slap a Pentax logo on it?

Sorry for the rant but I've not seen any concrete evidence so far that Pentax is rebranding *ANY* new lens from *ANY OTHER* brand for the incoming FF.

The only thing I want to see is a rebranded WR 150-600 consumer superzoom.

Are we sure that the consumer 150-600/6.3 at 600 f6.3 will out-resolve a DFA 150-450 at 450 f6.3 cropped to a 600 equivalent ? Would be nice to see a good comparison.
You'll probably not see any re-branded superzoom less than a year after the DFA 150-450.

The 45/1.8 is modern lenses and as such, probably quite sharper than the Da50, which really, is a M(if not K) 50/1.7 in disguise.

Not K: Takumars and Ks were 55mm f/1.8.

Unfortunately no one has a way to do the comparison.

If the 150-450 ever hit the 1500 or under price point I may get it since it would pair well with my 1.4 tc and still be WR.

No, it's a different optical design from the M 50 1.7 (while still maintaining the 6 element double gauss structure that ALL manufacturers use or have used until recently - Nikon now being the exception).

And there was no K 50 1.7. The front section of the double gauss looks more similar to Nikon's designs. And the rear section has a different element joint (curved joint) compared to all other 50 1.8 and 50 1.7 designs.

Also, there is no such thing as a modern 50 1.8 design... unless you talk about the possibly over-engineered Nikon 50 1.8G which added some extra elements but doesn't seem to have the "pop" images with sharpness and contrast of the earlier 1.8D design. The one thing it did improve was bokeh, but other than that, it doesn't seem to be so popular with Nikon users in general. The "old school" 6 element double gauss design seems to still yield best results.

No K indeed but AFAIK, the DA50 IS a M/A/F/FA50/1.7, the difference of 0.1 is due to rounded blades.
I don't believe a second Pentax would have taken the trouble of redesigning a 50mm optical design for cheap lens as the DA50. They may have slightly tweaked it but that's it. Just as the DA35 is an FA35 in other clothes (and rounded blades).
Also, the DA50 is behaving quite like my A50/1.7 does.
A comparison would be interesting.

Either way this is no new design.

The Pentax FF is doomed unless the LXII

has both interchangeable OVF and EVF viewfinders, and a dedicated Ansel Adams mode.

A special mode that puts the camera in monochrome mode, and locks the aperture at f64?

Bingo ... and a bit of waiting there to be done.

I'm thinking more of a mode that kicks the camera into spot meter, makes you select 3 readings on things in the frame, 1 that you want to be pure black, 1 18% gray, and 1 white. then fires off a series of 3 shots then like HDR and combines them into a single saved monochrome shot, but also saves the 3 raw files for you to play with later too.

And cryptographically locks the images in the SD card, with a timer. Forcing you to wait a minimum of 5 days from the time the image was captured to when you can extract the images onto a computer, and process the RAWs. To replicate the delay experienced in hiking back from a wilderness location to basecamp, then returning home and being able to properly develop the film, and make some prints.

More than that. Pentax is still doomed without the Ansel Adams option.
