That would make it trivial to release a similar K version too.

Technically i agree, but i think much of the value (in $) is attributed to the VC system, if used on Canon/Nikon. On Sony and Pentax its a different situation since it would compete against lots of other non-VC lenses that doesn't have a price premium because of unique VC in its class. Tamron would have to lower the price (compared to the Canon/Nikon mount versions) to stay competitive in the Sony and Pentax mount marked, but i doubt they will.
Why buy a Tamron 45mm f/1,8 for 600 $ when you can get a Pentax DA* 55mm f/1,4 for 630 $? Both are performing well on FF.
Or why buy a Tamron 35mm f/1,8 for 600 $ when you can get a Sigma 18-35 f/1,8 for 800 $? Both are performing well on FF at (24-) 35mm.
On APS-C:
Why buy a Tamron 45mm f/1,8 for 600 $ when you can get a Pentax DA 50mm f/1,8 at 100 $?
Or why buy a Tamron 35mm f/1,8 for 600 $ when you can get a Sigma 30mm f/1,4 ART at 500 $?
Or the FA 35/2 (330$), FA 43/1,9 (500$), or FA 50/1,4 (300$) just to mention a few more options. I think it will struggle to compete on K-mount at the current prices.
