A Simple solution....

Take a K-3II... shoehorn a 32+mp APSC sensor in it (Yes it's possible), reclock the CPU, tighten up the AF, Roll out a 10-24mm F2.8 HD DFA killer.... Ok Roll out the 24-70mm F2.8 as well... Hold off the FF until...... Florida freezes over.... Who'll care about the delay. We'll have the tools needed....

Barely bigger at all if that holds up.

I'd rather have a Nikon D750 sized camera that can be backpacked all over kingdom com without breaking my back...
Nikon D750
840 gm, 149x113x78mm

Temperature: 0 to 40°C/32 to 104°F; humidity: 85% or less (no condensation)

K-3
1240 gms, 132 x100 x 77mm

Operating temperature: 14-104°F (-10 to 40°C)
Weather resistant: Yes (92 special sealing parts)

I'm not seeing the D750 as in the same leagues as a K-3 in terms of out doors, and having had two cameras covered with condensation on the last few nights, I'm not so sure about leaving a D750 out where there might be condensation for star trails. So an extra 400 grams for weather sealing, a much lower operating temperatures.

There are a few things missing from the D750 I wouldn't trade weight for. Since I regularly use my camera in -20 and moist conditions.

I can't ever remember a K-3 breaking my back, , in fact I can't remembers a K-3, DA 18-135 and DA*60-250 ever breaking my back... but, I guess all backs are different.

Image with dew covered lens and camera... I kind of like it.

With Pentax, no worries....

BTW... Don't let the forum folks "give you the red @$$" on the delay. We ALL appreciate what you are able to do within bounds in giving us a "peek" into the abyss...

Well the way I see it, October, November, December, January, Feb. in one month the thread title will be accurate again, it will be 4 months from release. The thread gets bonus life and a chance to hit 100 pages. What more can you ask for from a thread?

It's interesting. If I were Pentax (based on what I saw in Japan), I would have a newer "under glass", not 3-D printed piece at the show. They would get all the buzz, reinforce they want a strong launch, and are comfortable with the design. Then give up no specs (enhance the tease)...

We'd go to 100 pages in reverse time...

Your K-3 is spectacularly heavier than the regular one (800g incl. battery)! So is your D750, to a lesser extent (750g)

I think Kenspo may be and have a right to be more upset than any of us.

In my house this doesn't even slightly affect his "forum god" status.

It seems to be a good sign that they are also waiting for the readiness of the newer and better 42Mp sensor from Sony (than the one in D810)....at least that's one of the reasons for the delay IMHO.

But by then Nikon and Sony will have a 60mp camera and Canon an 80mp camera, all with better AF, lens support, etc. I hate to say, they are hurting themselves by not getting something out this fall with Black Friday and Christmas. More people will jump to Canon, Nikon, or Sony because people will only wait so long for something that "may" become available instead of something that they can go out right now and purchase. Sorry Pentax/Ricoh, you screwed the pooch on this one. Again.

Image cropping with DA lenses?

Does anybody know how the "image cropping" function will work on the FF sensor? I have a Pentax K-30 and am thinking about upgrading in the next year or two, but I already have a couple lenses ($1500 worth). Won't the FF sensor be reduced to an APS-C sized image?
