Originally posted by jatrax How do you calculate that? Curious about your thought process. Entry level FF is a new thing to me, just rumored in the last few days so I've no idea. But $1,200 seems crazy low. D750 is $2,299, D610 is $1,496.
My calculations on flagship say $3,299 MSRP with discounts to below $3,000 once initial surge has passed.
There are a handful of other factors at play here.
Nikon is currently "fire-sale-ing" pretty much all of its top end models for almost 1/3 off; the D810 can be had for about $2200, the D750 can be had for $1500, and so on and so forth down the line. Yes, they are grey market items without a USA warranty, but this still speaks to the actual MFG price of the item, and Nikon's profit margins. In other words, if Nikon can afford to offer a $2300 camera for $1500, and a $3300 camera for $2200, then IMO Pentax (who always likes to offer even greater value than both Nikon and Canon) will probably MSRP a camera maybe as much as half way to that lower price. So if it's an "affordable" full-frame, $1700-$1800, and if it's a flagship, $2500-$2700?
I'm just saying it's possible. Look at the K-3 II prices (which by the way have dropped a couple hundred already) compared to the 7D mk2 and D7200 prices...
