Having Pentax strike a deal with Tamron would be a clever move, since they will have so few lenses of their own to begin with.
They are talking together.

And also.. if true.. then what makes a user want a 645Z system over this?
We are assuming that Sony will make the 42MP sensor available to Pentax/Ricoh. What if they don't, at least for a while?

If the Pentax FF comes close to a 645Z quality. I for one will buy the FF over 645Z. But at the end of the day, 645Z will have that extra edge for people who need it and can afford to get into the 645 system.

Not making a top model as good as possible is self-defeating. If buyers go FF Pentax instead of 645Z, at least Pentax sells a body, which is better for Pentax than the same consumer buying a Sony.
+1!

Besides, the 645Z certainly isn't going to stay unchanged forever, my wild guess would be that a new model is due for 2017.

Surprised how well the Canon 5Ds stacks up against the 645Z ( Canon EOS 5DS / 5DS R First Impressions Review: Digital Photography Review ). Although the 645Z still looks better (especially very high ISO) to me.
Just looks better. Because I am Pentax fan. The 5DS is very well done!

After what Ricoh tells me, it won't be the Sony 42 MP sensor from the a7R II. But maybe they are just playing games

They hinted at this as early as CP+ 2014. Also, they've obviously been working with Pentax for the past several years by offering rebadges of the 18-250 and 18-270 lenses.

I'd be happy with that, Tamron are good that I have seen.

One shop here have had this one available for a while, it says vc, but I'd guess that they would develop non-vc for the future

Agree..the new Tamron VC ones are good. I tested the 15-30mm F/2.8 in Sweden few weeks ago..just DAMN! It beats the 14-24 from Nikon in most parts! I would scream out loud if that one comes with K-mount!

Whatever sensor is in the Pentax FF I expect it to be a very good performer. As for the 42MP BSI sensor, lets remember that the 'package' is sensor plus lenses. I own a Canon system, a Sony FE system and the 645Z with a 28-45 and I have nothing that can compete with the latter. My A7R is kinda sorta close, but has more noise, obviously less resolution with wide angle lenses towards the edges of the frame (by a fair margin) and the files are less malleable. Canon sensors are not in the same galaxy for DR and noise when the files are pushed around. Sure, if you make A2 prints the idea of a 645Z is insane, but even with the new 42MP sensor around, making perfect prints that withstand close inspection at 40" is very lens dependent and there are few FF lenses around that could cope with 36MP, never mind 42. For this, we need a new generation of wide angles. The Batis lenses may get us closer and maybe the Pentax FF offerings will be amazing, but Pentax is already there with many of its new and legacy 645 lenses.

For me, 36 MP would be enough for FF. No need to cropping, I have my K-3 for that. Which is great allready for what it is.

People shoot the 645Z because it has amazing dynamic range, really good SNR and the glass available for it is really special. Resolution is important too, but probably secondary. That said, to me, it is similar to comparing 24 megapixel APS-C to 24 megapixel full frame. Yes, if you have exactly the right situation -- low iso, really sharp lenses that are stopped down a little bit -- you can get similar resolution -- the reality is that when you push pixel density up really high, it gets hard to really achieve that maximal resolution.

It is interesting to me that Falk Lumo (who tends to be right on these sorts of things) said that he didn't think that the 42 megapixel BSI sensor would really do any better than the D810 36 megapixel sensor when it came to performance and might do a little worse when it came to dynamic range. I understand that whatever is "newest" and most expensive is what Sony is going to sell, but I'm going to be tentatively skeptical till I see it out perform the older sensors (I would rather have good iso 50 performance than be able to shoot iso 12000 cleanly).

Amen. I just want to make sure that some of the Ricoh engineers see some of my posts: I really really want a stunning, compact 21mm f/4 or f/5.6 lens ... similar to the Zeiss 21mm distagon, but pocketable.

Tamron doesn't make that lens for Pentax, unless they are lying on their website. I'm not sure what the shop is selling, but it is probably a listing mistake.
