Exactly. And as a result, and after the length of time the dollar has now been at par, when Canadian businesses try raping me over the prices, I buy in the US. They had an excuse when the dollars first began to reach parity, but all the "old stock we paid for under the old exchange rates" is long off the shelves.
It would be a fair bet that if the US dollar plummetted next to the Canadian dollar for half a year and then rose again, they wouldn't be passing the difference to consumers as "old stock bought during the period of favourable exchange rates". Nah... "sorry, all the old stuff sold almost as fast as we got it".
Obviously, I don't have a whole lot of faith... but maybe I'm wrong.
