^ Look at the fine details in the tiles. You can still make out the smile quite well too. Mind you that the Sony is probably using that 11bit+7 compression whatever thing for their RAW file. Luminance noise looks pretty darn good to me at this ISO.

As it is, I already think that the K-3/K-3II is good up to ISO 12,800, but I think this sensor can pump out better high ISO image quality on the next Pentax APS-C flagship. Even the latest Nikon D7200 seems to edge out the K-3/K-3II by a hair at higher ISO when it comes to fine detail. However, I much prefer the Pentax colors.

The point here is this: imagine this sensor on the next Pentax APS-C flagship. Pentax is going to tweak the sensor to get even better photos out of it plus 14bit RAW files to boot.

All I can say is that the APS-C grass is getting greener. I look forward to the next generation of Pentax APS-C cameras.

Also, the CMOS chip in the Sony 6300 only has copper wiring and is not a BSI chip. Hopefully, Pentax can get the 24 megapixel sensor that has copper wiring and is Backside illuminated for their K-3II replacement.

Sony doesn't seem to invest like they did in the past in APS-C....
Apparently, they concentrate on A7 series, with quite unchallenging body prices, and not rassuring lense-holes in their lineup...
