That is not Amazon, it is "sold by Another Deal Site and fulfilled by Amazon". Sellers on Amazon often do this thinking it will stir up sales as panicked buyers rush to get the "discontinued" item.

Someone posts a similar "discontinued" lens here just about every week.

This sort of thing comes up every few weeks. Just search for those threads.

As the only affordable "normal" lens Pentax makes for their APS-C bodies, that only makes sense if they want to introduce a new one. Maybe with a decent aperture like 1.8 instead of the pathetic 2.4 on this lens.

Besides, it won't work on the K-50, according to Amazon. What a joke.

Wow, "decent" to "pathetic" in just 1EV?

0.9? Forget it. They used to make x-ray lenses with a ~0.55 maximum. 55/0.55 or I switch to Ricoh cameras!

Actually, that would be a pretty amazing looking lens, wouldn't it.

Just as sellers on eBay routinely use words like "rare" ... even if three identical ones are currently listed there!

Meh, I ignore all "discontinued" warnings unless they are from a direct, official source.

Its called the FA 35mm f2.0, and its still available as new in many stores. And the FA 31mm ltd is close.

We almost need a catch page when people type 'discontinued', during drafting of a new thread, here that explains that the item in question is not discontinued and not to worry about it.. haha It seems we do get these threads every few weeks with someone seeing the word 'discontinued' and then we have a long drawn out 'discussion' that ends up debating if the Pentax product manager is wearing a grey colored jacket or a steel colored jacket and the nuances of shades and how that determines whether or not Pentax is doooomed.

You forgot the "cheap" part. Those are expensive lenses. Nikon sells theirs for $199 and it's faster.

Yep! "Fulfilled by Amazon" only means that the seller uses an Amazon warehouse and shipping for their inventory.
