Pentax has not garnered the divine approval of an editorial organization in the form of meaningless awards that most people only use to fuel fanboy rage before promptly forgetting they exist in a couple of weeks? Say it ain't so!

I also wonder why they feel it is necessary to insert the word "European" in front of every single category. All but 2 products they list are not European, so are they implying they speak for all of Europe in determining what is best?

Pentax won last year.

Pentax hasn't released anything this year that strikes me as being definitively better than the new Canon or the Sigma tele... so I don't see what the problem is.

DFA 150-450? I thought that might get a mention anyway. But maybe it was too late to make the cut??

When everything is taken into account - IQ, range, price, availability in multiple mounts - it seems to me that the Sigma is justifiable over the Pentax 150-450 for the award.

I have no idea what the time parameters are. I think anyone considering a system that includes a long zoom can take a look at images made with the 150-450 and see that it is a very high quality lens.

Last year the K3 won some sort of EISA best DSLR award, so I doubt there's an anti-Pentax bias.

well i guess pentax will have at least one award next year, maybe with the FF camera? and even if they not.. exactly: who cares :-) or should be convert to canon now that they get the most awards?
and who knows maybe the 150-450 will get an award when tested with the adequate body.. :-)

Last year also K-3 won an EISA award.

I'm afraid yes, including Britain - for a while

The only body Pentax really released this year was the K3 II, which was more of an adjustment of an existing camera. I don't know what the criteria is for lenses to make it though.

Anyway, feels like Pentax is saving things up for the fall.

Rules can be found here: https://www.eisa.eu/faq.html

What camera/lens was out for the customers on 1st Oct last year?

Sometimes it's rather simple. K-S2 may appear next year.

Probably not a good idea seeing as many of them are moving to Sony in droves and a good healthy trickle to Nikon. Canon is bleeding very hard. Especially at the top end, excluding sports shooters.
