Do we need a countdown to Oct 6th?

Last few releases, there was nothing even in rumors until just a few days before the official press release. And I agree, we will not see camera on october 6th but might hear more specifications or maybe an official announcement with the release date.

Or maybe, nothing...............

I don't expect to see the new camera on October 6th, just a press release saying specifications and some field testers commenting on it. There may be a few images from the camera, but they won't be good quality and all tempered with the comment that they were made "without the final firmware."

There have been few early leaks with Ricoh and the most we could expect to see would be something a couple days before the end of the embargo.

Last time we heard the K-3 rumours, with specs and stuff, 2 weeks before the official announcement. So if that's the start of the official rumours, Oct. 6 then the official announcement Oct. 20th (my birthday) then the actual release date Nov. 4 ( my sisters birthday), then arriving at my house Nov. 21, (end of the college football season.) then the universe will be aligned as it should be. And it will arrive at my house early enough Tess won't wrap it up and make me wait until Christmas to open it. (perfect.!)

OK, I'm not buying one right away, but still... the stars are aligned.

Since the early announcement of the Pentax full frame 3D printed body was criticized to be way too early, I'd expect that Ricoh to simply not make any announcement and ship the ff camera to B&H and amazon up for sale. One day, I'll just find that the new Pentax full frame is in stock available to order. Adam will update the banner of Pentaxforums with the special full frame offer from B&H: order a Pentax FF + 24-70 DC WR for $2499 and get a free grip.

The spring announcement was pretty much necessary, as Ricoh Imaging started launching "full frame" products by then - the 150-450 is on the market for months, and the 70-200 should have been as well (if it weren't postponed for improvements). Those critics are wrong.

Any executive can say "it will be released October" then they can just as easily say "well, it was supposed to be released October, but we are making improvements, so it will not be ready until X" and around and around it goes.
