October 6th official PR, no prices mentioned? Then in few weeks the final price will be announced?
Sounds like a plan.
That would be a sign someone inside the company is using brain, after the GRII and K-S1 pricing debacles.
In other words, too much is on stake here: one wrong digit, one wrong word, one wrong official telling some nonsense (yes, Jim, we are looking at you, who ignorantly said 'who needs an FF?') and the Pentax FF could become everyone's butt of a joke.
So that they are keeping it quiet is reassuring.
Perhaps it's just the usual "no leaks until right before the official announcement". However, in this case the price (perhaps not the final one though) leaked months ago.
"We are looking at you"? Who's "we"?
I have respect for the professionals who are doing the job, and feel disgust when the armchair experts who are siting on the sidelines are mocking them for any (often imaginary, often made up) reason. I'm a professional myself, in another field - I know as a fact I can't claim I would do better without knowing all conditions inside Ricoh Imaging U.S. Because I met people who thought my job was trivial - but they didn't knew where to start, much less to get it done; I wouldn't do the same.
And guess who will try to make a fine product "everyone's butt of a joke". Yes, the armchair experts. If it was them, the camera would be much, much better and much, much cheaper and incorporate these amazing features...
