Sensor is 1/2.3, same as original Q. Q7/Q-S1 has 1/1.7 and is a significant upgrade in IQ. That's kind of necessary for the Theta because many outdoor shots have a wide exposure range to capture, from the sun itself to deep shadow.

Still, I'd like a ruggedized version to take on trail runs instead of a delicate flower that must be handled carefully.

Also, it would be nice to have a 360 degree LED light just above or below the lenses for "groupies" like this

Half of the subjects end up backlit. A 360 degree LED could pop a little fill light where needed.

I had been considering getting a theta but the image quality didn't impress me enough compared to the bigger competitors. But, if the leak turns out true and the 14mpx shows a big improvement, then I'll grab one in an instant.

I also own an Oculus Rift DK2, it would be cool to use it in conjunction with the new theta (although, you'd need two of them).

There's a promotional video available now. I notice that most of it is filmed at night. I wonder if that is an indication that it works well in low light situations.

I have the Theta m15, which is just plain fun to use in a group of people - especially people in their 60's, surprisingly. I'm quite tempted to upgrade for the increased functionality and pass the m15 along to my son for simple Social Media use from his retail store.

I think this is a site for Theta in general, so the samples in the gallery are not necessarily taken with the S model. I wasn't going to get another camera for a long time, but this looks like a very tempting thing to ask for for Christmas.
