He also said there should be "announcements" in time for CES, and was very interested in which full-frame lenses I owned.
Apparently Ricoh's dealer representative was not informed of the true status of this lens.

No new date given, but a "check back in December". Looks like B&H's "available Feb 2016" was on the mark after all.

This lens seems cursed. Delays, recalls, poor dealer communications. What is going on inside Ricoh? It's not a good look.

They should have just re-badged the Tamron 70-200. Then it could already be in stores, alongside the 24-70. [just kidding]

Almost as if there is some kind of anxiety about releasing it to the public.. will it measure up.. will it sell.. will it break down instantly and become a P.R. nightmare..

I hope the camera doesn't experience the same and is actually released in a few months from now...

I think it will be fine. In the end, they just need to have it stores by the time they release their full frame camera. I know there are folks that would purchase it to use on their crop cameras, but if it is available by spring and works well, then it should be fine.

Write down the names of everyone you talk to.
You can burn your information in about 6 days when the month is over.

Pentax´ timing is so off. A 2.8/70-200 would sell well right now. A FF body as well. With all the delays, Nikon and Canon will have their latest upgrades in all classes before Pentax can present a single working copy. How awesome must the Pentax be after release of a bunch of new cameras and glass by competitors.

Yes, it is very disappointing especially since so many of us have been dabbling with others as they delay.

If the K-3II experience was as bad as we here say it was I imagine Ricoh is just being extra careful that EVERYTHING (70~200 and FF) is buttoned up.

I'm fine with the delay as long as they provide me with good stuff in the end.

The lens will impress. Anyone whos touched one says so. I was impressed when I got to play with it back in September. It's pretty killer.

Lets hope so. I'm more interested in what they will do with the Limited line. I have very high expectations of those.

If it was that good when it still needed work, it's going to be fantastic when they're done with it. Let's wait as long as we have to. I think exciting things are going to happen.

I have no doubts that if you look at the 70-200mm f2.8 for what it is and what it is supposed to do that anyone who buys it will love it to pieces. But if your expecting something smaller and lighter than the Canikon counterparts you will be disappointed...heavily. The AF and IQ are very, very good matching or exceeding the direct competition, and that was trying it on a K3ii and only reviewing on the back of the screen.

I'm hesitant about the Limited line. We know the Limited line as a comparably small lens with amazing optics. The FA Limiteds are small for what they are compared to both APSC and FF lenses of similar focal length and aperture. But they are screw drive and still experience bad coma in high contrast situations. I would love nothing more than an updated D*FA 77mm f1.8 Limited. My fear though is that by adding the exotic glass elements needed to counteract the outdated parts of the lens, plus the addition of a ring motor that the lens will grow to the size of say... Nikons 85mm f1.8 G lens. Which to me would be a disappointment.
