I wonder if there is a market for both another FA Limited production run and an updated D-FA* HD SDM run of the (generally) same optical designs?

I think the alleged 2016 announcement of both a revamped FA 77mm f/1.8 Limited and a D-FA (★?) 85mm f/1.4 is a first answer to your question.

By the way, if the revamped FA Limiteds follow the path of the HD DA Limiteds and that of the D FA645 35mm f/3.5, they should keep their current size, optical formula (possibly improved marginally) and their screw-driven autofocus. May be their aperture ring too (less probable though).

A full frame with out a wide angle lens is nonsense. Pentax first step after releasing k1 should be a great wide angle 12-24 or a prime one 20 mm or 14 mm.

Yes, for God's sake keep the ring motors out of the Limited primes. IIRC the DA Limited HD vs SMC review on this site somewhere let on that the biggest winner for the HD treatment was the 40 pancake, which was also the oldest of the Limited lenses (and heavily based on an M-series lens). This makes me suspect that the only thing the FA limiteds really need is an update to HD coatings, possibly quickshift if that isn't too difficult (and looking at the 40 Pancake I can't see it adding much if any volume), and nothing more.

Puh-leeease let it happen. I would sell my left leg for a D FA 85 f1.4. (and let's face it, that's probably what I'll have to do).

And for the most skeptic, the lens is on the public roadmap - the D FA Large diameter wide zoom - which says that it has a focal length range of ~15 to 30mm. Some people have better information than that.
