Those guys who designed the shuttles probably never worked again, they now populate soup kitchens.
But the guy who figured out that if you spray the heat-shield tiles with out-of-the-can Scotchgard™ fabric protector to keep moisture away - - - he was a genius!!

Didn't the Shuttle explode because they pretended they didn't have a 'bug'?

May I respectfully disagree? For more than 20 years I have been involved in and responsible for the engineering of critical components for nuclear and naval applications (like components for the reactor primary cooling or propulsion of non-nuclear submarines). In these applications everybody must be aware that no matter how hard you try (and how much money you spend) mistakes or bugs will happen. Yes, of course you work very hard to minimize the risk of failures. But still something may go wrong. But the goal is to achieve a robust and fail safe design making sure that no single failure or bug will results in a desaster.
Of course you can disagree on the statement! I was considering how Ricoh use their V&V approach...very late in the product engineering time frame, and comments came.... "oh no, it can always happen that there are problems on released products..." et voila again. Next time, I'll refrain from commenting.

Somehow, I don't think you will refrain from commenting (nor do I want you to).

For you, this is an occasion to blame Ricoh, call them unprofessional and so on. But we don't know if the tripod collar is the one and only issue which triggered the delay, AFAIK it's just asahi man's supposition. And we don't know why they (presumably) didn't get similar feedback before pre-announcing the lens. Maybe it requires a peculiar way of holding it...

For me, this is a lesson to be learned from. "Don't do the tripod collars that way". "How can we find out earlier about such issues?" etc. - those are the questions they should be asking, instead of "who's to blame?". And Ricoh/Pentax people, who made many of our tools of choice, deserve our respect.

The new lens coating is an optical bomb,I never used a great coating like this how long I remember.
The build quality is much better and more massive than every competitor.
The AF speed like the Nikon 2.8 70-200.
Best regards

Does he mean:
"The AF speed is NOW like the Nikon 2.8 70-200".

Because I thought that was one of the reasons they held up the release of v1 of the Pentax lens was the ePhotozine review and others who had tested the lens noted that AF speed didn't match the Nikon or Canon equivalent 70-200's.

Whatever the reason, it's good news.

Apparently the placing of the tripod mount was a problem, grazing fingers, making for bloody photographers.

Be careful what you say online...
If you ever have any trouble getting an airline ticket, or US visa, in future, you will know the cause.

Sorry the joke was too tempting !^^
Honestly I hope that this lens will be nothing less than amazing from both optical and focusing point of view (I am confident about the build quality)...

Oh you can be confident about construction. The early prototype was already panzer-like

It would be suitable for paparazzi then. They are "bloody photographers" anyway ...

The version i tested was just as quick as the nikon ones i had. The problem wasn't the lens, but the camera. the 70-200 on the FF is another world compared to it on the K-3/K-3 II
