Is it just me, or does this seem to be a trend in recent years? While consumers would expect new items to be released in time for Christmas shopping, I'm seeing more and more that companies are using holiday sales to dump old stock. A smokin' deal on an old item seems to be selling better than the expensive latest-and-greatest. Based on this approach, I wouldn't expect even announcements before spring, only so that folks don't hold out.

I'd say this is a firm announcement regarding a FF release date, something that has only been interpreted and rumored. Granted, we don't know anything about the camera(s), but it's something positive. I'll take that...

They can't afford to release if there are still bugs in the system, (I'm not suggesting that there are bugs, but,...) the new FF must make an impact, the best ever. It makes sense if they first off say 2016 then update to earlier, if there are bugs to fix then they are still on track for a 2016 release. They need at least the new 24-70 and 70-200 at release.

We may see a new APS-C too

Franckly,
after all this delay in decision taking, after the 3D print joke, now again 6 month postponed : for a lot, this is more than unfortunate, that's a deadly news.
I am not anymore taking anything serious in communication from PR as from now.
Pentax digital FF had already a dire history since end of last century, i don't see how it could have a shining one as from now.
CaSoNikon will obviously release much more attractive FF bodies in the 3 to 4 comming months ; and i don't see by what kind of miracle PR could break the news anymore with it.

Another delay? Seriously If they ever release this thing who will be left to buy it aside from maybe a few dedicated Pentax die-hards?. There are already the 5DS, D810's and A7RII to choose from with a nice selection of lenses. In 6+ months they will be cheaper and have even more lenses. This is a dead end business wise, especially with the ongoing years of delays

Those who told you were themselves told by other people.

Ricoh is a Japanese company: power and knowledge are in Japan, nowhere else.

On the one hand, Ricoh FF will be niche product, and no any sense to hurry...But, on the other hand - Ricoh already said about Autumn, 2015.
Officially said at the exhibitions.

Disagreeable feeling of lies from Ricoh.

46 users can't be wrong! 96 can! Would that mean more or less discounts on K3II? We are seeing more and more discounts on Pentax products by everyday. Was it the FF announcement that caused that or is it something normal for Pentax gear?

All I have to say about this is digital 645...we waited a very, very long time.

I'll believe in the full frame camera when it is actually in the stores.

Another thing. Pentax made promises to some of the big camera stores regarding the 70-200 because they opened advance ordering. Now everyone is going to have to wait to see that lens until the Spring?

If it weren't so sad it would be funny.

LoL, I guessed it, they've started working on it from scratch this year when they announced it (not in 2013 or 2014 "we are working on it... bulls**t" as they claimed), so, clearly, the engineers could not keep the schedule. In fact they need about one year to design and release a new camera. Design prototype, evaluate it, redesign, evaluate, then make limited series and development of production tooling and testing framework etc, even with more resource, it's hard to make it shorter because of the lead times from material vendors that can't be compressed and the number of design iterations (typically 3 iterations between concept and final product).

But I guess, possibly in the delay is included the integration of the new Sony 42Mp BSI sensor, where Ricoh would perhaps have been able to release a FF earlier with reusing the 36Mp sony reference design (less work), but then given the new market conditions, such the release of Canon 5Dr 50Mp and Sony A7rII with 42Mp sensor and potentially, a Nikon spring release of a new FF DSLR with 42Mp , most probably Ricoh wanted to jumped on the 42Mp bandwagon creating to make the new FF a very compelling offer, hence the unavoidable added delay.

As for the folks who were asking if there is a firmware update of the K-3II, I think you can wait at least until after the full frame release to see anything done on the APSC product line.
