The advantage is that you going to have a Pentax FF that's on top of the game, hopefully not with legacy 24Mp or 36Mpx of the aging D800. With a Pentax FF life time of about 5 years, so, just think about it. For me, if you have to spend $2500 or $3000 on a camera body that's going to be obsolete after one year, forget about it. I'd much prefer a FF body that can well perform for 5 years or more.

Maybe not deadly, but certainly not a recipe for success.

Ricoh just can't seem to get it's act together on the FF. Or lenses recently. Or firmware. A very disorganised company.

Arrhhh you say this because you are disappointed. And you are disappointed because the expectations were pumped up to maximum level by Ricoh's half promises and per-announcement too early and lot of self teasing by the discussions on the forums.
The reality is that Ricoh released a K-3 when they should have been working on a FF in order to be just in time to enter the market, but they started FF development one product cycle too late, so now they are in catch-up mode.

One hopes. That would be a reasonable expectation.
But with Ricoh it seems just as likely that, after all sorts of excuses and rationalisations, 2017 will turn out to be the nominated launch window, and in the end they might just give up.

Well this is no surprise to me. They had nothing and I still think don't have the tool to make shake reduction work for the bigger and heavier sensor module. Maybe Sony wouldn't sell it to the little Pentax.

Is this the start of the end? I don't know, but I sold almost all my Pentax gear 3 months ago.

Sure, this will be disappointing to folks expecting to see it this fall. But I think maybe it's worth seeing this in context from the company's point of view. For Pentax this has to be a flawless product release, with every feature tested and working perfectly. Gossip seems to be about this targeting the professional market, so they just can't afford to slip up.

But the previous high end camera release, the K-3II, was a complete disaster and thousands and thousands of cameras had to be recalled, worldwide. The worst release I've seen in 5 years, maybe from any major brand? That just isn't good enough if they're targeting professionals. Clearly the QC operation back at Pentax needs a bit more work, and improvement. I for one sincerely hope that by giving themselves a few more months it gives Pentax some more time to get this product properly tested, rather than whatever happened with K-3II.

then one can always wait for the latest sensor...
But i think some people that maybe keen on a D750 or similar might jump ship now.

The delay is because they need to build more DFA 50mm and 85mm F1.2 DC WR !

Pentax answer on the question around being behind schedule:

"No, we are on schedule. But we have decided to enrich some functions and specifications furthermore to satisfy our customers.
We are expecting different launching schedule from previous announcement considering the time we need to develop."
