Originally posted by Winder I'm not dreaming. I don't care about 4K or even HD, but as the sensor tech evolves we will have the sensors and we are discussing the future not the past. Sony may or may not be able to make a MF 4K sensor. Sony didn't make MF sensors at all until last year.
Don't forget that:
- RED cameras use proprietary sensors
- RED's competitor, Arri, proposes the Alexa 65, a 6K camera with a 54.12 x 25.58mm, i.e. a 'medium format' sensor (diagonal = 60mm, bigger than that of the sensor in Pentax 645Z).
RED could therefore develop a video-oriented sensor for a future Pentax 645 camera (or 24x36 camera, for that matters).
