24-70 and 15-30mm will be likely rebranded Tamron, according Asahi man in DPR. Just get improved over the lens coating.
I actualy don't mind with this move as long as the price is not that high.

I guess this is the 220000 JPY question. I am sure Ricoh will not tell us either, just have to wait for the tests to come in and see if there is any diference at all.

A bit more than the mere re-use of an optical formula. The two lenses look very much alike. Even the zoom lock is at the same place on both. And asahi man states (see above) that the Pentax version is manufactured by Tamron.

Well, that was... unexpected.

I would be disappointed, except... the Tamron 24-70 and 70-200 are said to be Hirakawa Jun designs. I haven't heard about the 15-30 but it would make sense if that one was as well, but I haven't seen anything about that.

So if we are getting Jun's designs via Tamron, I'm totally fine with that

Well, just something to consider. Had i stayed with Canon fullframe, and not come back to Pentax, this Tamron was going to be my next purchace to replace my 24-105L. I wanted VC, which was not available for Canon. Optically, the Canon 24-70mm mk 2 is best in class, but not worth the price difference (to me...obviously plenty of others are willing to pay the premium). The Tamron held its own. The troubling part is that there are reports of decentering with the Tamron lens, and since the new Pentax lens will be manufactured there, I suspect it will have the same quality control issues.
Also, wouldn't it be nice if it came with the Tamron warranty (5 years) instead of the Pentax 1 year

As far as I know the only lens that has a glass aspherical in the entire lineup is the FA 31 Limited.

I would forget about it for a regular non star, non Limited lens. But, I've been wrong before, so...

I think it's obvious by this point that the UWA zoom will be the Tamron 15-35mm f/2.8. I mean, if they're gonna license lens designs, Ricoh would be very well advised to get the best! I hope they do that, instead of licensing something like Tokina's 16-28.
Also, expect a cemented aspherical. Cast asphericals are riddled with faults, while ground ones are very expensive. The Pentax 24-70 will probably fall in line with the Tamron's price in a year, two years tops.

Forget about this lens...i hope that this means that Tamron will now make the 150-600mm in K-mount. It is one of the best bang for the buck telephoto options going right now
