Well, at least the R&D costs to make this "new" camera must have been pretty low...

Does Ricoh-Pentax actually make these, or are they farmed out to Asia Optical like the WG-M1 (the action cam that is basically the same as the Kodak SP1, or the Pentax MX-1/Olympus XZ2 siblings)? It might explain some things. If RP is just filling a slot and not pushing AO to upgrade, and AO is just filling an order and adding a bit here and there, then I can see how the design could stagnate.

I don't think PentaxRicoh is still manufacturing itself any P&S but the GR (which IMO doesn't fit the P&S label but that's just me).

You have to ask Asia Optical (Asia, nor Asahi ).

Not sure if it is the screen font or just the state of my mind, but I thought you wrote that the WG-40 comes with Mermaid model. Seriously, that would be a great promotion, you know, a free promotional photoshoot.

What does "adventure proof" mean??? It keeps you from having an adventure??? Or maybe it means I can have an adventure with a Mermaid?? I might buy one just to find out!

Yes, in the same way that water-proof means keeping you from drinking water.

I think we just figured out Ricoh's marketing strategy for this camera!
