Miyabi are japanese knives. So maybe some sharpening algorithm? An image search for miyabi gets me much different result though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miyabi

Miyabi (雅) is one of the traditional Japanese aesthetic ideals. In modern Japanese, the word is usually translated as "elegance," "refinement," or "courtliness" and sometimes refers to a "heart-breaker".

The ideal posed by the word demanded the elimination of anything that was absurd or vulgar and the "polishing of manners, diction, and feelings to eliminate all roughness and crudity so as to achieve the highest grace."

Super sophisticated, I wonder what's that to do with a 'tough' camera? Is it just another Japanese oxymoron?

I love how they keep re-releasing the same model over and over. Why even bother?

With the Olympus TG-4 being a very capable and affordable underwater camera that's been getting good reviews lately, I really wonder what must've gone on in that board meeting...

Ricoh executive 1: "Guys, Olympus has released a waterproof compact with RAW support and good underwater AF! It's also only $379! How can we compete with this? The WG-30 doesn't have that!"
Ricoh executive 2: "I've come up with the new WG-40!"
Ricoh executive 1: "But it's the same as the WG-30!"
Ricoh executive 2: "Nonsense. The body says 'WG-40' on it! People love big numbers!"

Google translating the Digicame release info, it says "Add a reversal and Ya (Miyabi) to image finish." Sounds like digital filters or in body settings.

"Miyabi" is what Pentax has been calling the "vibrant" custom image setting in Japanese ever since I got my first Pentax in 2008 at least.
