You think I didn't already know this? I own a few of them for Canon and Nikon DSLRs.
I think Steve was trying to add to the discussion, not impune your personal knowledge of fast zooms.

Will this be noticeablely better than the DA*16-50mm when mounted on APS-C?

between 50-70mm yes, between 16-24mm no! I prefer the out of focus rendering of the 16-50 to any other option in its class but obviously it is not that strong when it comes to flare resistance corner sharpness and CA. The HD coating on the 24-70 should markedly improve the contrast and flare resistance compared to its tamron sisters. Its purpose on APSC is rather different than on FF where it will be directly comparable to the 16-50 in FOV terms.

My wife has this on pre-order from B and H. She thinks it will be about perfect for wedding photography (she doesn't really do a lot of wide shots and tends to use the 16-50 between 20 and 50mm for the most part).

English is my second language also. American is my first. Canadian my third and Australian my fourth. I also have a good foundation in Texan, which like Quebec, many residents believe should not be a part of their mother country.

She will love how quiet and fast the focus is.

Quiet is definitely an advantage of a well-designed in-lens focusing motor.

The camera store Yaotomi has posted two parts of a hands-on review of this lens. All the images can be clicked to open a larger version and when you see a little image next to the big one, it opens a full resolution sample. Some of the samples are using the Real Resolution mode, and this is mentioned with the English words.

HD PENTAX-D FA 24-70mm F2.8ED SDM WR ? ?? ???? ?? 2015 ?vol.1? - ????
?? ???? ?? 2015 ?vol.2? ? HD PENTAX-D FA 24-70mm F2.8ED SDM WR - ????

Another store, Map Camera, also has an unboxing video, if you're into that kind of thing.

It's designed for FF, 1.5x less enlargement required for prints.
