FYI: on february the 10th, 2016, it will be EXACTLY 15 years ago that the (at that time unnamed) FF DSLR with the 6MP Philips sensor was announced in a press release by Pentax USA.
Pentax 6mp Digital SLR hands-on: Digital Photography Review

That's 5478 effing days they could have been working on the K-1. So it MUST be the best camera ever, for an indefinite period of time in the future. :P

Nice. But they started working in 2012 (said so in an interview). So it's a more down to Earth product
The good side: we won't have to pay for 15 years of R&D.

They started only one year ago on many parts of the camera.

Could you give more details? I hope it's not the "oh, no, they couldn't possibly have had more than a printed 3D model before CP+2015" theory...

That is hilarious to me.

But the reason as to why there are subtitles is because here, in the USA, we don't speak English.. rather, we speak American.
I was delighted to recently watch the movie "Road Warrior" (1981, Mel Gibson's breakthrough role) in the original Australian dialogue. For a long time it was available in North America only in a version with American actors' voices dubbed in place of the original dialogue. I thought dubbing American voices was ridiculous since I found Australian English was easy to understand. However, I have since discovered to my astonishment that some Americans have great difficulty understanding Australian movies and TV shows. I knew some Americans were ignorant of the world outside their borders, but I didn't know it was so widespread. I guess that's why Mel Gibson puts on an American accent during interviews with US media.

There was a digital 24x36 prototype camera named 'K-1' in February 2006 (a renamed MZ-D, the 24x36 prototype shown during Photokina 2000 and again at PMA 2001, the launch of which was officially cancelled in 2001 due to the cost of its 6 Mpixels Philips sensor).

Japan Camera Museum, Pentax exhibition, report from Digital Camera Watch dated February 17th, 2006:

The same K-1 reappeared on 16 July 2011 during a special Pentax presentation of the Q to Japanese bloggers:

I know about the 2000 prototype; I was specifically talking about the current project. They're unrelated, despite possibly using the same name.

An Aussie (pronounced Ozzie, BTW) fell from the roof of a building in New York and ended up flat on the pavement, but still alive. After muttering something that clearly identified him as a foreigner, one of the people in the surrounding crowd asked him light-heartedly "did you come here to die?" The Aussie replied "no, I came here yesterdie".

Yes, that's how it sounds to a North American

Mel Gibson is American born. He moved to Australia with his parents when he was 12.
